In Montreal's plexes and century homes, the interior hardwood staircase is often the most beautiful and the most worn piece. Rather than replacing it, we restore it: dust-free sanding, repair of split treads, tightening of balusters, new finish and, where needed, a new code-compliant railing or guard.

For new builds or major renovations, we design and build custom staircases in oak, maple or walnut with steel or glass guards, and install them with our general-contractor team.

Frequently asked questions about staircases

Can a staircase be sanded without dust everywhere?

Yes. Our sanders connect to a vacuum system and we protect adjacent rooms. You can stay home during the work.

How long does a staircase restoration take?

Usually 3 to 5 days, including drying time between varnish coats. The stairs stay usable with care between steps.

Is my guard code-compliant?

The code requires a minimum height and a maximum spacing between balusters, among other things. We check and propose solutions that respect the style of the house.
